Melbourne International Garden & Flower Show is a must-see annual event of the year. Breathtaking blooms are on display, and it is indeed a feast to the eyes. And visitors are able to view The Cubby House Challenge at the event. So what is it? It is an annual fund-raising program of Kids Under Cover, a non-profit organization that supports homeless kids in Victoria. We had lent a hand to this great cause in the past, and this year again. And guess what? Exploring the displayed Cubby Houses was the most attraction to many youngsters for fun time there during the event. Here are some of 2017 Cubby House Challenge.

The magnificent installations really create a visual spectacular at the show such as a larger than life bird nest filled with a variety of small and colourful flowers of a cottage garden. It's a storybook wonder, may we add. Boutique gardens with structural wall and columns as a hard and straight element in contrast to white and soft anemones, and clumps of other dark green foliages, shown us what a clever design it is. These shades of white and green colour in these gardens have certainly created a tone of calmness to anyone state of mind.

Award-winning floral displays amaze viewers for their surreal beauty at this annual flower show. On this note, floral art is part of our creative footprint. Here are some of our floral display of a recent project for a modern, small and zen weddingoccasion. We are delighted to be part of this life event on simplicity and purity as of the reflection of the wedding ceremony. So to entice your event and occasion, call us to discuss your need of floral art services.

Exploring the New York City in May, in the summertime is an ideal. Check out our Culture section for the Federal Hall building where George Washington was elected as the First President of The United States of America. The well-known New York library where the Gutenberg Bible was on display is in mid town. View here for the caption of this Rare Book.

The heat in New York is somewhat intense this year, because the City is crowded with the tall building structures, which are likely the contributing factor for the temperature in Manhattan to heat up. This is an effect of Urban Heat Island – click here for further information on this. It is a climate change scenario. And the United Nations have called people and nations around the world to tackle this global challenge. Goal 13 is for Climate Action, and it is one of the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Strolling along the busy street in midtown Manhattan, we passed by a glass frontage building where an inner courtyard is adorned with shade of various green foliages. This is an indoor public space, and was the first of its kind in the area when builded, and is opened to public for viewing nowadays. For sure this atrium, a hidden oasis of 53metres height, provides a beneficial application to public health of the staff members, and visitors alike. Because indoor trees and plants have the capacity to filter toxic air VOCs that circulate inside the building. This research is compiled by our ES Consulting services team, read more here.

This is the Ford Foundation Building, designed by architect Kevin Roche and his engineering partner John Dinkeloo in 1963, and completed in 1968. Check out here for a glimpse of the Times Square, a well known spot for New Year Celebration in New York City. The Ford Foundation is known as the Center for Social Change, and established in 1936 by Edsel Ford and Henry Ford with the mission of advancing human welfare.

New York City is where buildings and skyscrapers are dominated. Within walking distance from the Ford Foundation, you are able to spot on 42nd street, the Empire State Building, and the Church of The Covenant. The Trinity Church is on Broadway and Wall Street, and the New York Stock Exchange building is nearby. A floating walkway that connects the two buildings, catches our attention and reminds us that safety reason can be an architectural feature as well.

One cannot go pass Chinese Town when visiting New York City. The bustling, the noise, the traffic is part of this side of town. Fresh seafood is sold daily at many Chinese fishmongers on Canal street at an affordable price. But the catch is you have to cook it. But, the best option to all seafood lovers is to try out these foods at the local restaurants around there. And guess what, the price is reasonable for any type of fresh seafood dishes of Chinese, or of Vietnamese or of Thai flavour. The good thing is there won’t be any washing-up to tackle at the end of the meal.

Next, we flew to California, the U.S. sunshine state in June, and the change is imminent. Building structure is only a few levels up above the ground, and the weather is milder than the Eastcoast this year.

Have you ever heard of a white Koi fish named Mobydick that lives in a pond of a Japanese garden? We got this story when visiting The Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden in Long Beach, California. Within this setting, a question was came about on sustainable application to water usage there, since drought is still ravaging the west coast of U.S. and it reminds us the prolonged drought in Australia of over 10 years span in the past years. Technically speaking, it is still happening as of today in some rural areas.

Drought is a weather condition that is caused by a change of weather because of many causal factors due to climate change, where Sustainable Design is required for climate adaptation to enable commercial and domestic users to consume energy and water efficiently for a Sustainable Approach to Living Standards. There are many researches done in the past of many sources, including ours of www.escservices.com.au team in this context.

On this note, when you are in Richmond Virginia, make sure to visit Thomas Jefferson Monticello garden. It is about history, architecture, planning, sustainable living, edible garden, efficiency and engineering design. It is a tourist attraction with crowded international visitors and children around the world.

Here are some snapshots of Design & Decor Exhibition this year. A high note on the simplicity, with amazing organic and fresh installations that are inspired and engaged the crowd. Local artists, designers are showcasing their works at their best. We met Pimpisa Tinpalit, a local artist of native Thailand, but Melbourne is her home for many years. With many awards and honours to her work, look out for this quiet talent to blossom. Her series of A Dialogue of Strangers are so surreal and mesmerized, somehow it connects us to Alice in Wonderland. The thinking, the composition, the form, and the colour , all are welded together playfully. These works truly reflect the artist's integrity to her inner thoughts and emotion of her early years settling down in this city.

Build-up your equity of your brick and mortar is a great way to get more bang for your buck. We have had great stories of our clients in this context, and guess what, the value of their homes has increased by two folds or more as of result. That's the fact! Call us and get a transformation to your home with our online services.

A renovation of a Newport home has commenced in 2013, and will be completed sometimes in late 2015. ESCDESI took on the lighting design aspect for energy efficient scope. Client is an owner builder, so quality is a priority. A simple lighting plan designed specifically to family lifestyle on a sustainability note.

Massachusetts and California are the locations of our recent projects. A small family has taken on the idea of a green wall to cooling their courtyard, and living area of their family home in Southern California State at the expense of less demand on water consumption. California has had a prolonged stricken drought and water is a scarcity. How beneficial is the vertical garden to many living aspects of us, as human being? Let's say the greenery foliage soothes the eyes, cools down any small courtyard, and filters at the same time the air we breathe. And it does not require watering it constantly. Sound good so far? Check out the plan, and the inspiration of a green wall.

Our next styling and interior design project is of an inner city living of a residential address in California. View the plan and moodboard.

In Massachusetts, the project scope is a newly completed remodelled attic . The brief is to transform it into a liveable space. We aim to take the design theme around the history and the charm of Boston, the home owner's lifestyle and aspiration, and the natural suroundings of the location. Guess what! Our style has hit on the high note of client's satisfaction. We are on cloud nine indeed for this fantastic outcome. View the creative visual of the living/library and practical arrangement of the study corner.

Keen to see what is the style of a one bed apartment in Massachusetts? A modern vibe for fun, or a classic edge? See moodboard here.

What about a foyer of a residential home in Massachusetts? So what it is used for? It is going to be a family retreat for any necessary family engagement. Some green foliage has to be part of the scene as of the brief. We are so glad upon this request, since plants are able to filter the air we breathe, and that is a fabulous healthy living approach. See the proposed styling of this functional space.

We have recently visited California and North East areas of USA. Boston, the city of Massachussets has a rich heritage of architectural buildings of Colonial, Federal, Victorian periods. This presence holds the essence of a cultural richness of the early settlement period. Some old terraces still show off their decorative timber shingles with pride and stand tall for an everlasting stature. The craftmenship of the woodwork oozes the characteristic of a bygone era. It is an inspiration! check out our Culture & Lifestyle

In contrast, skyscrapers are the scenery of New York city. But, old buildings can still be spotted there and elsewhere as a precious jewel in the crowded structure of steel, glass and concrete.

So, what is American style? Well, we found so far, the dark tone of the timber could be somewhat dominating to majority of the interior decor we have seen. This element is likely a must-have colour scheme of the early settlement influence . On the other hand, an elegant and dark brown Windsor chairs of the 18th century, could display a warm and earthy tone to any interior space either in Australia, or USA and elsewhere.

Timber homes of colonial and federal styles, are the norm in Richmond, Virginia as well to the outer suburbs of New York city. In Richmond, Boston, Connecticut and New Hampshire, high pitched roofs houses for additional attic space are a common too. It is a bonus to have a home with an empty attic in any cities around the globe. Truly, it is often left with cluttered unused items. But, if it could be put to a good use, then it is a profitable gain in value. So, how to transform your empty attic to accommodate your living needs and lifestyle? What could heighten the attic space on a high note then?

An efficient and styling project is in planning stage near Glenroy, North of Melbourne City. We have visited the site of our new project in New Port. An old Victorian cottage is in the process of remodelling to a fantastic structure with a modern twist on bold statement in playing with steel, glass and timber.

We are invited to a Victoria/Tasmania DIA event in Camberwell in the 1rst week of May. It was the Head office of Abode bedlinen, and to our surprise, and it is fantistic to know, this family business has their own in-house manufacture to keep the integrity of its brand Designers and partners of Interior Industry were captivated by a thought-provocative, articulate, and humorous presenter of the day on the ups and down in styling and decorating a complete bedroom. Guess who could it be the partner in crime of this event, the incomparable Paul Hecker, Co-Founder of awards winning Hecker & Guthrie Interior Design firm. We had to admit, it was worth for an afternoon networking with wines and yummy canapes, and of course plenty of laughter to go down. The Australia design + decoration scenes should check out Abode's goose feather pillow cases, which are made with a blended cashmere and cotton. Sweet dreams!

Our team has joined force with Positive Footprints in 2013 Cubby House Challenge of Kids Under Cover. We are so excited of our unconventional, turmeric Cubby House 'Enchanted Tree' for its awards of 'The Most Innovative Cubby' in the Cubby House Village at Melbourne International Flower + Garden Show. And on Sunday 24th of March, the Cubby House Challenge has raised $50,000 of a combined five Cubby Houses at the auction, including 'Enchanted Tree' , 'Mini Giant', 'Your Name Here', 'The Zimmer', and 'Storybook Hollow. Indeed, it was a fantastic effort of all involved parties, who have shared a common view for a greatcause of The Cubby House Challenge of KUC. Our congratulations to all Architects, Builders, Designers, Developers, Supporters, Sponsors, Exhibitor and last but not least, the dynamic Real Estate, who has added the know-how touch to maximise a good deal on the day. And guess what, 'Enchanted Tree has come second in this 2013 KUC fund raising at the auction. Well done to Positive Footprints' team and ours! Images will be uploaded soon.

What can be found in DECORATION+DESIGN and FURNITEX in July 2013 at Melbourne Exhibition Centre?

We had attended the international industry seminars of DECORATION+DESIGN and FURNITEX 2012 in Melbourne with the hightlights: Dubai's project of Portugal lighting designer Beau McClellan's large scale chandelier. The artist's endeavour is to integrate sustainability to all of his artistic works in this discipline. We are certainly missed this year of Robyn Holt's and Thomas Hamel's presentation over their contribution to World and Australia's Interior are informative, and inspirational. Their humorous approach sparkle the event with fun.

ESCDESI Design Director Elizabeth Tran had attended to WorldWeave's rugs collection openings night at its headquarter in Melbourne last June.
